Match Report: Leeds Mercury: 15th April 1920:
SILVERWOOD COLLIERY v LEEDS UNITED
After a game that was seldom interesting, Leeds United defeated Silverwood Colliery at Elland Road, three goals to one. Had
Leeds made the most of their chances they would in all pobability, would have won by a larger marginThe passing of both teams left
room for improvement, and the shooting was, on the whole, badly executed. The play at times was spoiled by roughness, and several
players received slight injuries. Mason, who made many good openings, scored for United after fifteen minutes, and Ball, a bustling
centre-forward, equalised for Silverwood. Butler obtained two goals - one from a corner - for the United in the second half.
